- Work to increase the evacuation capacity of the Fourcade sluice with the creation of an ecological continuity system.
The work pursues the objectives following:
- Reduction in the drying time of the island Camargue in the event of flooding or marine submersion, by doubling the capacity of gravity evacuation towards the sea.
- Complete reconstruction of the existing sluice and creation of a new hydraulic structure 29 m wide.
- Integration of a ecological continuity system by setting up 2 fish passes adapted to the targeted species (eels, glass eels).
- Maintaining traffic and service functions on the sea wall (pedestrians, cyclists, horse riders, vehicles, exceptional convoys).
- Reconstruction complete the scuppers of the outlet of the Wind Turbine pumping station, while maintaining its functionality.
- Related work including the relocation of the eastern spur as well as the restoration of impacted roads, networks and structures.
These services must be carried out in compliance with:
- environmental requirements applicable to the site (ZNIEFF, Natura 2000, prefectural decree including exemption for protected species),
- Regulations in force relating to hydraulic works and maritime works,
