Description:
To mark the millennium of the birth of William the Conqueror, the Normandy Region will undertake, in June 2027, the organization of a major nautical event intended to celebrate the Viking heritage and the emblematic figure of William the Conqueror. This project will take the form of a traveling gathering lasting approximately twenty days, linking Caen to Rouen. It will include several stopovers. Festive events, both on the water and on land, are punctuated by major highlights, including: the inauguration of the Ornavik Historical Park interpretation center and the international gathering of traditional sailing ships during the Rouen Armada. This event aims to combine heritage enhancement, cultural dimension, and tourist appeal, placing Normandy at the heart of celebrations linked to its thousand-year history. The Region's objective is to bring together 30 or more ships.
