Description:
Viarhôna has been a recognized European veloroute (EV17) since 2016, connecting Lake Geneva to the Mediterranean. It runs along the Rhône over 815 km currently, allowing the river bicycle discovery, its local natural spaces, outdoor activities, from cities recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage and remarkable villages as well as local inhabitants and know-how, crafts, viticultural and agricultural. In order to ensure the good progress of this very transversal project, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region has been piloting the Viarhôna route committee since 2013, opened today to more than 175 partners. In association with historical institutions (link contracted within the framework of the Rhône-Saône interregional state-of-region contract), local authorities developers, tourist agencies and user associations concerned, a roadmap 2025-2027 was adopted in November 2024. This provides for the updating of the Viarhôna signal charter dating from 2016.
