Description:
The renewal of the railway platform between the Hopital Bellevue stop and Solaure station is a project led by Saint-Etienne Metropole. This section serves the southern districts of the City of Saint-Etienne from its origin located at the Nord Hospital in the commune of Saint Priest en Jarez. There The affected line is the T1 and it serves the main artery called Grand Rue.
This section consists of a double track sector along the rue Ambroise Pare and a loop-shaped sector made up of a single lane. This loop allows the tram trains to be turned around on the track 2 from the Solaure stop heading north. It is useful for unidirectional rolling stock (Alsthom).
The rolling stock has a gauge of 2.15m, i.e. a so-called tailor-made gauge, and it will be replaced in the medium and long term by equipment with a standard gauge of at least 2.30m. This choice is driven by the high cost of custom hardware.
The footprint of the future platform must make it possible to accommodate future rolling stock while maintaining urban integration and limiting its impact on the existing one.
