• Description:
• River tourism is the art of linking activities linked to the waterway and those of its banks. It is the marriage of the river and the land to serve the attractiveness of a destination. It constitutes a broader variant of river tourism, since it takes into account the uses of the waterway, but also of its surroundings. As such, cycle tourism and hiking represent booming practices. The development of bicycle tourism along the greenway allows an approach privileged and gentle natural, historical and cultural heritage. Ardenne Métropole, as part of the implementation of its tourism development plan (Axis A: Structuring the offer and enriching the customer experience / Action A4: Structuring and implementing in the market for outdoor activities - Promoting tourism on major routes and A5: Showcasing and developing the gamification of heritage) wishes to boost the tourist economy linked to river and river activities, along the linear Meuse, relying as far as possible on the animation skills and field knowledge of local structures, already established and in operation. The Meuse canal and its tributaries constitute an opportunity and a strong axis of tourist development today underexploited with potential through river tourism (private pleasure, boat rental, hotel or restaurant barges, day boats and river liners, etc.) and river tourism (activities cyclists, water sports, fishing, cultural and recreational activities), reinforced by the presence of the greenway, recognized Eurovelo 19. To this end, Ardenne Métropole intends to encourage the emergence of structuring tourist projects through this approach intended to support stakeholders carrying out a project whose challenges will contribute to the implementation of ecotourism that respects social and environmental balances, etc.
