Description:
On April 12, 2019, the New Aquitaine Regional Council deliberated on the implementation of a Rail Investment Master Plan for 2030 to develop its TER transport offer and at the same time restore the nominal performance of the LDFTs. called on the State and SNCF Reseau to investstir at his side in favor of maintaining the regional lines. In this context, the operation to regenerate the line between Niort and Saintes was included in the 2022 Recovery Plan and a financial protocol on short lines was signed between the State and the New Aquitaine Region on April 22021 marking a common ambition.
The Niort Saintes line (77 km), non-electrified, UIC 8AV is single track. The objective of the work is to regenerate the line, to restore its nominal performance for passenger trains (100km/h) and to make it sustainable.
