Sustainable viticulture certification (VDC)
Viticulture certificationSustainable in Champagne (VDC) is a voluntary approach aimed at supporting Champagne wine -growing operations towards more sustainable practices. It was launched in 2001 by the Champagne Committee. Recognized since 2014, VDC certification is adapted to specific issues in the regionChampenoise.
The main challenges of the VDC are:
• Master the use of inputs to respect health and the environment.
• Preserve and enhance the terroir, biodiversity and wine landscapes.
• Managing water, effluents, by-products and waste.Reducing energy dependence and the carbon footprint of the sector.
The VDC benchmark is made up of 99 points
Level 2 environmental certification (CE2)
Level 2 environmental certification (CE2) is a voluntary approach that aims to encourage agricultural practicesrespectful of the environment. It is based on a repository comprising 16 requirements divided into four main themes:
